Directions

  1. 1Combine glutinous rice flour, boiling water, and salt in a food processor.
  2. 2Process until the mixture becomes a dough.
  3. 3Knead the dough by hand a couple of times.
  4. 4Shape the dough as desired.
  5. 5Cut the shaped dough into desired pieces.
  6. 6Boil the pieces in a pot of water until they float.
  7. 7Remove the rice cakes from the water and rinse them in cold water.
  8. 8Place the rice cakes on a plate or cutting board, cover, and refrigerate for one hour before using.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 7 tbsp boiling hot water
  • 1 tsp salt

Tips

  • If you do not have a food processor, you can stir the dough with a spoon or spatula until it comes together.
  • The more you knead the dough, the chewier the rice cakes become.
  • You can store these in the freezer and boil them again when ready to cook.
