Ingredients

  • 2.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1.5 cup white sugar

Tips

  • To prevent dry or crumbly cookies, avoid adding too much flour.
  • Use the spoon-and-level method for measuring flour: fluff, lightly spoon into cup, then sweep off excess.
  • Do not scoop flour directly with the measuring cup or pack it down.
  • If dough turns out crumbly, add about 1-2 tbsp of melted butter or water.
  • Adding vanilla extract is an option for flavor variation.
