Sesame Chicken

Directions

  1. 1Slice your chicken into bite-sized cubes.
  2. 2Crack two eggs.
  3. 3Add in a fat pinch of salt and some cornstarch to the chicken and eggs.
  4. 4Get in there with your hands and give it a good mix until the chicken is well coated.
  5. 5For your sauce, add ketchup, equal parts soy sauce, a little bit of brown sugar, a fat drizzle of honey, a splash of rice vinegar, three cloves of garlic, a kiss of sesame oil, a few sesame seeds, and finish with some cornstarch.
  6. 6Give the sauce a quick mix.
  7. 7Fry your chicken until crispy and golden (e.g., in an air fryer).
  8. 8Whilst your chicken is frying, get some dips in.
  9. 9Add some of your sauce to a pan.
  10. 10Add your beautiful chicken to the sauce and mix it until coated.
  11. 11Finish with some rice, a few more sesame seeds, and spring onion.

  • 500 g chicken thighs, chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 60 g cornflour
  • 1 Large pinch salt
  • 60 ml ketchup
  • 60 ml soy sauce
  • 60 ml honey
  • 12 g brown sugar
  • 10 ml rice vinegar
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 5 ml sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornflour (to thicken)
  • 1 Pinch sesame seeds
  • rice

Tips

  • To lighten up the recipe, reduce honey, use less cornflour, or swap chicken thighs for chicken breast.
  • Adding a splash of soy sauce and a squeeze of lemon juice at the end can enhance the flavor.
  • Mix the cornflour for the sauce with a splash of water before stirring into the sauce to thicken it.
