Directions
1
Combine 1 cup warm water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 2 teaspoons active dry yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until a layer of foam appears.
2
In a mixing bowl, add 3 and 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 egg, a 4th cup oil, and the yeast mixture.
3
Knead the mixture with a dough hook for about 5 minutes, then knead by hand for a couple of minutes to ensure the dough is smooth.
4
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it, letting it rest for 1 hour.
5
After 1 hour, punch the air out of the dough onto a clean surface and cut it into 8 equal pieces.
6
Take each piece, flatten it out, fold the edges in, pinch the bottom to seal it, and roll it until you have a smooth dough ball.
7
Place the dough balls on a baking sheet and press them down slightly.
8
Cover the dough balls and let them rest for another 30 minutes.
9
After 30 minutes, add an egg wash to the dough balls and sprinkle sesame seeds on half of them.
10
Bake in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 12 minutes.
