Award Winning Chili recipe
Directions
- 1Cook 5 pieces of bacon in a pot.
- 2Once cooked, remove the bacon and set aside, reserving the bacon grease in the pot.
- 3Add 1 diced onion and 1 diced red pepper to the bacon grease and cook down.
- 4Add about 1 tablespoon of minced garlic to the pot and cook until fragrant.
- 5Add 0.5 pounds of hot breakfast sausage and 1 pound of 85/15 organic ground beef to the pot.
- 6Brown and cook down the meat mixture.
- 7Add the seasoning blend (1 tbsp chili powder, 1.5 tbsp ancho chili powder, 1 tbsp brown sugar, 1.5 tsp smoked paprika, 1 tsp cumin powder, 1 tsp onion powder, pinch of cayenne pepper, dash of cinnamon) to the meat and vegetable mixture.
- 8Mix the seasoning into the meat and let it become fragrant.
- 9Add about 1.5 tablespoons of sweet jalapeno chili jam to the mixture and mix it in until it melts.
- 10Add 1 can of fire-roasted diced tomatoes to the pot.
- 11Add 1 lightly rinsed can of black beans and 1 lightly rinsed can of kidney beans.
- 12Add 1 can (4 oz) of fire-roasted diced hot green chiles and 1 can (4 oz) of fire-roasted diced mild green chiles.
- 13Add about 2 tablespoons of tomato paste.
- 14Add about 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce.
- 15Add about 2 cups of beef bone broth, eyeballing the amount until you reach your desired consistency.
- 16Bring the chili mixture to a boil.
- 17Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 to 40 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
- 18Add the cooked bacon back into the chili.
