Sticky Pork Rice Bowl

Directions

  1. 1Combine soy sauce, mirin, garlic, sake, and brown sugar, then mix thoroughly.
  2. 2Pour your mixture into a pot.
  3. 3Bring the sauce to a light boil and remove it after two minutes of simmering.
  4. 4Lubricate your pan with oil.
  5. 5Lightly brown your thinly sliced pork on both sides before removing it from the pan.
  6. 6In the same pan, add your sauce.
  7. 7Once the sauce starts to turn glossy, re-add your pork.
  8. 8Cook until the sauce is starting to caramelize and stick to the pork.
  9. 9Take your fresh bowl of rice and place your pork down.
  10. 10You can optionally garnish with scallions and an egg yolk.
  11. 11Blowtorch your pork to caramelize it some more.
