Start with a pound of ground beef.

Add in half of an onion and half of a bell pepper that has been finely diced.

Season with garlic powder, onion powder, some salt, and some pepper.

Cook until your ground beef is brown and your vegetables are soft.

Once the ground beef is brown, drain off all the excess grease.

Stir in a heaping tablespoon of garlic.

Let the garlic cook for about 30-45 seconds, maybe a minute, just long enough to let it become fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

Add in one cup of ketchup, a tablespoon of mustard, a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, two tablespoons of brown sugar, and a half a cup of water.

Mix that up really well.

Let this come to a slow simmer, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes for the flavors to combine.

Serve with cheese, mayonnaise, or whatever toppings you like on your sloppy joe.
