Spicy Asian Style Wings

Directions

  1. 1Combine the chicken wings with cornstarch, white pepper, and a pinch of salt.
  2. 2Shallow fry the chicken wings in 1 tbsp neutral oil.
  3. 3In a separate pan, heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil.
  4. 4Add 6 finely chopped garlic cloves to the pan.
  5. 5Add 1 tbsp finely chopped ginger.
  6. 6Add 1 long hot red chili pepper.
  7. 7Add 1-2 tbsp chili flakes, adjusting for spice tolerance.
  8. 8Stir in 1/2 cup brown sugar.
  9. 9Add 2 tbsp dark soy sauce.
  10. 10Add 1/4 cup regular soy sauce.
  11. 11Simmer the sauce until it thickens.
  12. 12Toss the fried wings in the sauce to coat.

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (for a light crisp coating)
  • 0.5 tsp white pepper
  • 1 Pinch salt
  • 1 tbsp neutral oil for shallow frying
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 long hot red chili pepper
  • 1 tbsp chili flakes, adjust based on your spice tolerance
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup regular soy sauce

Tips

  • Don't forget to add the garlic before the wings.
