Old-Fashioned Boiled Milk Frosting

Directions

  1. 1Combine the granulated sugar and all-purpose flour in a medium-sized saucepan.
  2. 2Gradually incorporate about half of the milk into the sugar and flour mixture, whisking until smooth and lump-free.
  3. 3Add the remaining milk to the mixture.
  4. 4Turn the burner to medium heat and whisk continuously as the mixture heats up and thickens into a thick paste.
  5. 5Once the paste has thickened, turn off the heat and pop it into the fridge to cool down to room temperature.
  6. 6While the milk paste is cooling, cream up a cup of real butter in a mixing bowl.
  7. 7Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the creamed butter.
  8. 8Add the cooled milk paste to the butter mixture.
  9. 9Mix the frosting on high speed for approximately 10 minutes until it's light and fluffy.
