Combine the granulated sugar and all-purpose flour in a medium-sized saucepan.

Gradually incorporate about half of the milk into the sugar and flour mixture, whisking until smooth and lump-free.

Add the remaining milk to the mixture.

Turn the burner to medium heat and whisk continuously as the mixture heats up and thickens into a thick paste.

Once the paste has thickened, turn off the heat and pop it into the fridge to cool down to room temperature.

While the milk paste is cooling, cream up a cup of real butter in a mixing bowl.

Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the creamed butter.

Add the cooled milk paste to the butter mixture.

Mix the frosting on high speed for approximately 10 minutes until it's light and fluffy.
