Directions

  1. 1Melt the butter.
  2. 2In a stand mixer, combine the cake mix, melted butter, milk, eggs, and a splash of vanilla extract.
  3. 3Spray cake pans with cooking spray.
  4. 4Divide the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  5. 5Jiggle the pans on the counter to level out the batter.
  6. 6Bake at 300°F for 45 minutes.
  7. 7Let the cakes cool for a few minutes in the pans, then flip onto a cooling rack.
  8. 8Wrap the slightly warm cakes in plastic wrap to lock in moisture and freeze overnight.
