Serves 12

Directions

  1. 1Add 3 cups of flour to a big bowl.
  2. 2Add 2 teaspoons of baking powder.
  3. 3Add 1 and a half teaspoons of salt.
  4. 4Add 5 tablespoons of room temperature butter.
  5. 5Add 1 cup of hot water.
  6. 6Mix until it's a smooth ball.
  7. 7Take a warm damp towel and cover it for 10 minutes.
  8. 8Once it's been 10 minutes, flour your surface and transfer your dough to it.
  9. 9Sprinkle your dough with flour and roll it up into a ball.
  10. 10Take a knife and cut it into 12 pieces.
  11. 11Take each individual piece and roll it up into a ball.
  12. 12Place the ball on your floured surface and dust it with a little flour.
  13. 13Roll this out until it's about 6 to 8 inches in diameter.
  14. 14Get a skillet or a thick bottom pan, set the temperature to medium high heat and add just a drizzle of olive oil.
  15. 15Wait until your skillet is warmed up, but once it is, take your tortilla and just lay it on the skillet.
  16. 16Let that go for about 45 seconds or until it starts to bubble up, then we're gonna flip it over.
  17. 17Once it starts to bubble up, flip it over for another 30 to 60 seconds.
  18. 18After about another 45 seconds it's done.
  19. 19Once the tortilla is done cooking, put it on a plate and cover it with a towel.
