Directions

  1. 1Place seven strips of hickory-smoked bacon in a cast iron pan.
  2. 2Cook the bacon until done and remove it from the pan.
  3. 3Add 85/15 beef patties to the pan with the bacon grease.
  4. 4Sear the patties on both sides and remove them from the pan.
  5. 5Add one medium-sized diced onion to the pan.
  6. 6Add one diced bell pepper to the pan.
  7. 7Cook the onions and bell peppers for a few minutes until they soften.
  8. 8Add 8 ounces of fresh sliced mushrooms to the pan.
  9. 9Add a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce to the pan.
  10. 10Add a tablespoon of black pepper to the pan.
  11. 11Add granulated garlic to the pan.
  12. 12Add "flavor time" seasoning to the pan.
  13. 13Add a third of a cup of all-purpose flour to the pan and stir continuously.
  14. 14Continue stirring the mixture until the flour turns a dark brown color.
  15. 15Slowly add 32 ounces of beef broth while continuously stirring.
  16. 16Bring the mixture to a low simmer.
  17. 17Add the seared patties back into the gravy.
  18. 18Place the pan in a 300-degree Fahrenheit oven and let it simmer for 30 minutes.
  19. 19Serve the hamburger steak on top of homemade mashed potatoes with extra gravy and a side of green beans.
