Directions

  1. 1Combine 4 meatless patties (like Beyond Meat) with Red House Seasoning, onion soup mix, vegan Worcestershire sauce, and mix well.
  2. 2Add 1/2 cup of vital wheat gluten flour and olive oil to the mixture and mix thoroughly to activate the gluten and achieve a tough texture.
  3. 3Add some vital wheat gluten flour to a board, then press the mixture into small patties.
  4. 4Dip the patties in a seasoned flour mixture (made with Red House Seasoning).
  5. 5Fry the patties in grapeseed oil for about 3 minutes on each side, then remove from the pan.
  6. 6Add sweet onion to the pan.
  7. 7Whisk some of the same seasoned flour into the pan, ensuring it doesn't clump with the onions.
  8. 8Once mixed, add plant-based butter, two cups of water, two vegan beef bouillon cubes, more Red House Seasoning, a little vegan Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke.
  9. 9Add the homemade onion soup mix and allow the gravy to cook for 10 minutes.
  10. 10Add the vegan beef steak to the gravy, cover with gravy, and cook for another 8 to 10 minutes.
  11. 11Serve the cube steak with rice, mac and cheese, turnip and mustard greens, and bourbon candy yams.
