Directions

  1. 1Combine all-purpose flour, salt, yeast, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. 2Add warm water to the dry ingredients and mix until a shaggy dough forms.

  4. 4Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until it becomes soft and smooth.
  5. 5Cut the dough into 12 pieces to make a dozen bagels.
  6. 6Flatten each piece of dough, pull all the sides into the middle, and smooth it into a ball.
  7. 7Poke a hole in the middle of each dough ball and pull to create a bagel shape.
  8. 8Cover the shaped bagels and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  9. 9Once risen, place a pot of boiling water on the stove and boil each bagel for about 30 seconds on each side.
  10. 10Transfer the boiled bagels to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  11. 11Brush the bagels with egg wash and add any desired toppings, such as sesame seeds.
  12. 12Bake the bagels at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25-30 minutes.
