2h 3m
Serves 123

Directions

  1. 1Add one stick of unsalted butter to the mixing bowl.
  2. 2Add 4 cups of powdered sugar and slowly mix.
  3. 3Add 2-3 tablespoons of half and half while mixing.
  4. 4Add 1/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract and 1 teaspoon of vanilla bean paste.
  5. 5Add green food coloring.
  6. 6Scoop out the mixture onto a surface dusted with powdered sugar and roll it into a ball.
  7. 7Portion the dough into bite-sized pieces and place them on a sheet.
  8. 8Cut the dough into even smaller pieces.
  9. 9Let the pieces harden for a couple of hours.
  10. 10Place the hardened mints into a jar.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons half and half
  • 0.25 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • 1 green food coloring

Equipment

mixing bowlhand mixerknife or bench scraper

Tips

  • The consistency of the mixture should resemble Play-Doh; not too wet, not too dry. Adjust with more powdered sugar or half and half if needed.
  • If you don't want to make a large quantity, halve the recipe.
  • Let the butter mints sit for a couple of hours until they harden before placing them in a jar for storage. They are great for snacking or gifting
