Homemade Nutella

Directions

  1. 1Toast the raw hazelnuts at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes, tossing them halfway through.
  2. 2Pour the toasted hazelnuts onto a towel.
  3. 3Massage the hazelnuts in the towel to remove their skins.
  4. 4Put the hazelnuts in a strainer and strain out the remaining small bits of skin.
  5. 5Put the peeled hazelnuts into a food processor or blender.
  6. 6Blend the hazelnuts until they become a smooth liquid, scraping the sides as needed. This may take about 5 minutes, going from crumbly to lumpy to liquid.
  7. 7Melt 1 cup of dark chocolate chips.
  8. 8Add the melted chocolate to the blended hazelnuts.
  9. 9Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
  10. 10Add a pinch of salt.
  11. 11Blend the mixture for a couple more minutes until it's smooth and combined, scraping the sides as needed.
  12. 12Pour the finished Nutella into a container or jar for storage. If you want it extra smooth, pour it through a strainer.
