Soya biriyani

Directions

  1. 1Boil 1 cup of soya in water.
  2. 2Light the stove and place a pot on it.
  3. 3Add 50ml of oil to the pot.
  4. 4Add 2 chopped onions and 2 green chillies to the oil.
  5. 5Sauté until golden brown.
  6. 6Add 2 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  7. 7In a mixer grinder, add 6 small green chillies, 3 cloves, 2 black cardamom, 0.5 tsp pepper, 0.5 tsp fennel seeds, and 10 cashewnuts. Grind into a paste.
  8. 8Add the grounded paste to the pot.
  9. 9Stir well.
  10. 10Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 1/2 tsp coriander powder.
  11. 11Add 1 chopped tomato.
  12. 12Add grounded mint and coriander leaves.
  13. 13Add the boiled soya.
  14. 14Add 2 tbs curd.
  15. 15Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  16. 16Add 2 cups of water.
  17. 17Add 2 cups of coconut milk.
  18. 18Cover and bring to a boil.
  19. 19Squeeze half a lemon into the pot.
  20. 20Add 2 cups of soaked seeraga Samba rice.
  21. 21Stir and cover the pot.
  22. 22Cook until the rice is partially done.
  23. 23Place a tawa on the stove and put the pot on top for dum cooking.
  24. 24Add 1 tsp ghee to the rice.
  25. 25Cover the pot and place a heavy object on top for dum cooking.
  26. 26Cook until the rice is fully done.
  27. 27Serve the soya biriyani on a banana leaf.

  • Cinnamon sticks
  • 3 Clove
  • Kalpasi
  • 3 Black cardamom
  • 0.5 tsp Pepper
  • 0.5 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 10 Cashewnuts
