1
Slice your onion however you want.
2
Drop the sliced onions into a hot oiled pan and sauté them until they are golden and caramelized.
3
Set the caramelized onions aside.
4
In your favorite 1 and 3/4 to 2-quart baking dish, add 1 and 1/4 cups of long grain rice, 1 can of beef broth, and 1 can of French onion soup.
5
Give this a quick stir.
6
Ploop the caramelized onions right on top and spread them out in an even layer.
7
Add 1 stick of unsalted butter, cut into little pats.
8
Cover your baking dish and throw it in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 45 minutes.
9
When the 45 minutes are up, take it out of the oven, remove the lid, and admire it.
10
Grab a fork and check to see how much liquid is left.
11
If there's a lot of liquid left, put it back in the oven uncovered until it's tender and perfect.
12
If your rice is perfect, grab a serving spoon and fill up a bowl.
13
If you have parsley, sprinkle it on top to make it look fancy.
