Chicken Chow Mein

Directions

  1. 1Season chicken breast with black pepper.
  2. 2Set the seasoned chicken aside.
  3. 3In a measuring cup, combine low sodium soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, hot sesame oil, sugar, and ground ginger.
  4. 4Mix the sauce ingredients together.
  5. 5Set the sauce aside.
  6. 6Add chow mein stir-fry noodles to boiling water.
  7. 7Cook the noodles for 2 minutes.
  8. 8Drain the noodles.
  9. 9Rinse the noodles in cold water.
  10. 10Set the noodles aside.
  11. 11Heat about 2 tablespoons of oil in a wok or skillet over high heat.
  12. 12Lay the chicken in a single layer in the hot wok and cook for 2 minutes.
  13. 13Flip the chicken over to the other side and cook for another 2 minutes.
  14. 14Remove the browned chicken from the heat.
  15. 15To the same oil, add half an onion, one small red bell pepper, and one cup of celery.
  16. 16Cook the vegetables for a couple of minutes.
  17. 17Add 1 and a half cups of carrots and 2 cups of cabbage.
  18. 18Mix and cook for another 2 minutes.
  19. 19Add 2 minced garlic cloves and cook for about 30 seconds.
  20. 20Add the prepared sauce to the vegetables.
  21. 21Mix the sauce with the vegetables.
  22. 22Add the cooked noodles.
  23. 23Mix everything together.
  24. 24Add the cooked chicken to the noodles and vegetables.
  25. 25Mix the chicken into the chow mein.
  26. 26Serve the chicken chow mein.
