Directions

  1. 1Spray water on the shredded knafeh to make it pliable.
  2. 2In a small thick baking pan, place the samen baladi.
  3. 3Sprinkle the knafeh on the pan to form the first layer, filling in the gaps.
  4. 4Cover with a plastic bag, then press down with a rolling pin.
  5. 5Arrange the edges and shape to level.
  6. 6Add sugar and thickened qater to the pistachios and mix.
  7. 7Pour the mixture on top of the first layer of knafeh and flatten.
  8. 8Cover with a plastic bag, then press down with a rolling pin.
  9. 9Add the second layer of knafeh.
  10. 10Cover with a plastic bag, then press down with a rolling pin.
  11. 11Add the remaining samen baladi.
  12. 12Place in a preheated oven at 180 degrees with the fan on.
  13. 13When the edges start to turn orange, remove from oven and drain the excess butter.
  14. 14Flip the osmaliya on a paper towel, place the pan and return it to the pan.
  15. 15Add the remaining samen baladi and place back into the oven until golden.
  16. 16Remove from the oven and add the thick qater.
  17. 17Leave aside to cool.
  18. 18Cut when cold to prevent it from crumbling.
