Browned Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie

Directions

  1. 1In a small sauce pot, melt butter and simmer until it starts to bubble up and turns into a light amber color, then add in honey and mix to combine.
  2. 2In a mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt, then pour the cooled browned butter/honey mixture over the sugars and combine.
  3. 3Add in egg and vanilla extract, mix until the mixture is homogeneous.
  4. 4Stir in AP flour and baking soda, then add in chocolate chunks and mix until no dry flour is visible.
  5. 5Scoop the chocolate chip cookie dough with a portion scoop and freeze for at least 2 hours, but overnight is preferred.
  6. 6When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350F, line a half sheet tray with parchment paper and place frozen cookie dough on top, then sprinkle with sea salt.
  7. 7Bake for 12-13 minutes.

  • 2 Tbs honey
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 C granulated sugar
  • 0.5 C light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1.25 C all purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 C semi sweet chocolate chunks
  • sea salt

Tips

  • Let the dough rest in the freezer for a couple of hours before baking; overnight is even better.
