Perfect Ribeye Steaks

Directions

  1. 1Remove steaks from the fridge at least 45 minutes before cooking.
  2. 2Just before cooking, rub steaks with olive oil and generously season to taste.
  3. 3Preheat grill to medium heat (approximately 375°F).
  4. 4Grill steaks 5-6 minutes per side for medium-rare or 6-7 minutes per side for medium.
  5. 5Remove from the grill and top with a pat of butter, loosely tent with foil.
  6. 6Rest steaks 5-10 minutes before serving.
  7. 7For the oven method, preheat the oven to 400°F.
  8. 8Heat a large cast-iron pan on the stove over medium-high heat.
  9. 9Add steaks to the hot pan and cook 2 minutes per side to brown.
  10. 10Place the pan with the browned steaks in the oven and roast 11-14 minutes or until the ribeyes reach the desired temperature.
  11. 11Immediately remove steaks from the pan and place on a plate to rest.
  12. 12Top steaks with a pat of butter, loosely tent with foil.
  13. 13Rest steaks 5-10 minutes before serving.

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning or kosher salt & pepper, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter or herbed butter

Tips

  • Remove steaks from the fridge at least 45 minutes before cooking.
  • Rub steaks with olive oil and generously season just before cooking.
  • Searing the outside of the meat helps seal in the juices.
  • Do not press the steak while cooking on the grill.
  • Use a meat thermometer and avoid overcooking.
  • Remove steaks a few degrees before desired temperature as they continue to rise while resting.
  • Always rest steaks 5-10 minutes before serving for best results.
