Directions

Take 2 cups of unpolished moong dal and stir it in a wok in medium flame for 15-20 minutes

Transfer the moong dal to another container and let it cool down.

Add the cooled moong dal to a blender and grind it well.

Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a wok.

Add the grounded moong dal to the wok and mix well.

Add 1 cup of ghee. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.

Add crushed nuts and mix well.

Remove half portion of the mixture.

Add 3/4 cup of sugar to the remaining mixture. Mix well.

Add 1 liter of boiled milk. Stir continuously.

Add saffron (optional).

Once the mixture starts to thicken, add 4-5 tablespoons of ghee, 5-6 green cardamoms.

The Moong Dal Halwa is ready.

Let the pre-mix cool down and keep in a room temperature. It can last for three months.

0.5 cup nuts (cashew and almond)
0.75 cup sugar
1 liter boiled milk
1 pinch saffron
5 green cardamom
