Hot Honey Halloumi Schnitzel

Directions

  1. 1Place the halloumi quarters in boiling water and leave to soak for 20 minutes.
  2. 2Carefully lift the halloumi from the pan, one at a time, leaving the rest in the boiling water while you bread the halloumi.
  3. 3Place the halloumi on a double sheet of kitchen roll.
  4. 4Place more kitchen roll on top of the halloumi and gently roll it out until it's thin and double the size.
  5. 5Leave the halloumi to cool completely before moving it.
  6. 6Roll the halloumi in flour until coated, then tap off any excess.
  7. 7Dip the floured halloumi in beaten egg.
  8. 8Place the halloumi on a plate of cornflake crumbs, making sure each side is covered.
  9. 9Repeat the breading process with the rest of the halloumi.
  10. 10Place honey into a pan.
  11. 11Add chili flakes and vinegar to the pan with the honey.
  12. 12Gently heat the honey, chili flakes, and vinegar until bubbling.
  13. 13Fry the breaded halloumi for a couple of minutes on each side until crisp and golden brown.
  14. 14Cut each halloumi schnitzel into strips.
  15. 15Serve the halloumi schnitzel with chips and salad.
  16. 16Top the halloumi schnitzel with the hot honey sauce.

  • 100 g Cornflakes
  • Oil
  • 130 g Honey
  • 1 heaped tsp Chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp Vinegar

Tips

  • Soaking halloumi in boiling water makes it easy to roll out thinly.
