Directions

  1. 1Add 1 and 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to a large bowl.
  2. 2Whisk the dry ingredients together to combine.
  3. 3Add 3 cups of freshly shredded cheddar cheese to the dry ingredients.
  4. 4Stir the cheese into the dry ingredients until well combined.
  5. 5In a separate measuring cup, combine 1 cup of whole milk, 1/4 cup of unsalted melted butter, and 1 large egg.
  6. 6Whisk the wet ingredients together.
  7. 7Pour the wet ingredient mixture into the flour and cheese mixture.
  8. 8Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  9. 9Pour the batter into a parchment-lined 9x5 loaf pan.
  10. 10Smooth out the top of the batter in the loaf pan.
  11. 11Bake uncovered at 350°F (175°C) for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
  12. 12While the bread is baking, prepare the topping by combining 1/4 cup of unsalted melted butter, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, 1/8 teaspoon of onion powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of dried parsley in a small bowl.

  14. 14Once the bread is out of the oven, brush the flavored butter all over the hot bread.
  15. 15Let the bread cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, then remove from the pan and let it cool a bit more.

Tips
