Directions

  1. 1In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Whisk and let sit for 5 minutes to activate.
  2. 2Add flour to the yeast mixture.
  3. 3Add melted butter and a pinch of salt.
  4. 4Mix with an electric mixer for about 5 minutes.
  5. 5Knead the dough with your hands for a couple of minutes.
  6. 6Grease a bowl and place the dough inside. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
  7. 7Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces (about 140-150 grams each).
  8. 8Roll each piece into a ball and make a hole in the center to shape into a bagel.
  9. 9Place the bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  10. 10Bring some water to a boil in a saucepan, add baking soda, and stir until dissolved.
  11. 11Boil the bagels in the baking soda water for about 45 seconds per batch.
  12. 12Remove the bagels with a fine-mesh strainer and place them back on the parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
  13. 13Brush the bagels with egg wash.
  14. 14Sprinkle half of the bagels with everything bagel seasoning.
  15. 15Bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes.
