Bring 1 cup of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

While the water is heating, make a cornstarch slurry by adding 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to some cold water and mixing it.

Once the water begins to boil, add the cornstarch mixture.

Bring the mixture back to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.

While the sauce is cooking, add 0.5 cup of sugar, a pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon of butter, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla into a bowl.

Carefully pour the hot mixture into your bowl with the other ingredients and let it melt everything for 1 minute.

Mix until everything has completely melted and dissolved.

Allow the sauce to cool completely before transferring it to a container or jar for storage.
