Directions

  1. 1Heat a large pan to medium heat and add some oil.
  2. 2Add diced yellow onion to the pan and let it start getting tender.
  3. 3Add garlic and cook for about a minute.
  4. 4Add one pound of ground beef to the pan.
  5. 5Season the meat with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes.
  6. 6Finish browning the meat.
  7. 7Squeeze a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste into the center of the pan and let it warm up for a moment.
  8. 8Mix the tomato paste into the meat.
  9. 9Pour in about three cups of beef broth and one cup of heavy whipping cream.
  10. 10Add one pound of pasta.
  11. 11Bring the mixture to a boil.
  12. 12Reduce the heat to a low boil and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the noodles are soft, stirring every five minutes.
  13. 13While the pasta is cooking, grate some sharp cheddar cheese.
  14. 14Once the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed, add about a half to three-fourths of an eight-ounce block of shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  15. 15Stir until the cheese is melted.
  16. 16Taste test the dish to ensure it doesn't need any additional seasonings.
