Apple Cider Donuts
Directions
- 1Break open and slice apples.
- 2Add sliced apples to a pot with a sliced orange, cinnamon sticks, and pumpkin pie spice.
- 3Cover the whole thing with water.
- 4Transfer to the stove and bring to a boil.
- 5Simmer for a few hours until the fruit is soft enough to mash easily with a wooden spoon.
- 6Strain out the solids, pressing out every last drop of liquid gold.
- 7Set aside the liquid gold (apple cider).
- 8Add softened butter to a bowl with brown sugar and regular cane sugar.
- 9Whisk until light and fluffy.
- 10Add an egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix to combine.
- 11In the same bowl, add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, ensuring all dry ingredients are well incorporated.
- 12Pour in some of your homemade apple cider.
- 13Grease a muffin tin or donut tray.
- 14Fill the muffin tin or donut tray two-thirds of the way up with your batter.
- 15Bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) until a toothpick inserted into the thickest part comes out clean.
- 16While the donuts are baking, mix together sugar and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
- 17In another separate bowl, melt some butter.
- 18Dip your baked donuts all over in the melted butter.
- 19Then dip the buttered donuts into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- 20Serve your delicious apple cider donuts.
