Directions

  1. 1Add 2 cups of warm milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1.5 tablespoons of yeast to a mixing bowl.
  2. 2Whisk the mixture well and let it sit on the counter for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  3. 3Add a quarter cup of honey to the mixture.
  4. 4Add one egg to the mixture.
  5. 5Add a quarter cup of melted butter to the mixture.
  6. 6Add 2 teaspoons of salt to the mixture.
  7. 7Add 6 cups of all-purpose flour to the mixture.
  8. 8Knead the dough in an electric mixer for about 5 minutes, or by hand.
  9. 9Remove the dough from the mixer and knead it a bit more by hand on a counter.
  10. 10Grease the mixing bowl with olive oil.
  11. 11Place the dough back into the greased bowl, cover it, and place it in a warm spot for about an hour to an hour and a half to double in size.
  12. 12Punch down the risen dough to release the air.
  13. 13Divide the dough into two equal portions.
  14. 14Shape each portion of dough into a loaf.
  15. 15Place the shaped loaves into greased bread pans.
  16. 16Cover the bread pans and let the dough rise for a second time for about 30 minutes.
  17. 17Bake the loaves in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes.
  18. 18Brush the hot baked loaves with melted butter.
  19. 19Carefully dump the hot loaves onto a wire rack to cool.
  20. 20Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing.
