Directions
- 1Combine orange juice, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, applesauce, Duke's mayonnaise, lemon zest, and the juice of half a lemon in a bowl.
- 2Add one box of lemon pudding and one box of Duncan Hines Perfectly Moist Lemon Supreme cake mix to the mixture.
- 3Mix all ingredients until the batter is done.
- 4Pour the batter into tin pans.
- 5Bake in a 350° oven for 35 minutes.
- 6While the cakes are baking, combine one cup of granulated sugar and one cup of water in a pot.
- 7Bring the sugar and water to a rolling boil on the stove for 3 to 5 minutes.
- 8Remove the simple syrup from the heat and set aside to cool.
- 9Once the cakes are out of the oven and still piping hot, spoon the simple syrup over the top, allowing the cake to soak it up.
- 10For the glaze, combine approximately two cups of powdered sugar with about one tablespoon of orange juice.
- 11Add about two more tablespoons of orange juice to the glaze mixture and combine until smooth.
- 12Once the cakes are cooled, glaze them.
