Heat up in a small saucepan half a cup of whole milk, two tablespoons of sugar, half a teaspoon of salt, and three tablespoons of unsalted butter on a medium heat until the butter is melted.
In a large bowl, combine one cup of all-purpose flour and one tablespoon of active dry yeast.
Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture.
Mix on low speed with a hand mixer.
Add one egg and mix until combined.
Mix on high speed for about two minutes.
Add one more cup of all-purpose flour and mix with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together.
Flour your surface, turn out the dough, and knead for about six to eight minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rest for one hour.
Punch down the risen dough, turn it out, and divide into six equal portions.
Cover the portions and let them rest for about ten more minutes.
To form the hamburger buns, take a portion of dough, fold the edges under, pinch together, flatten to about three inches round, place on a lightly greased baking sheet, and cover.
Let the buns rest for another thirty minutes.
Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes.
Remove the buns from the baking sheet and put them on a cooling rack.
Once cooled, slice in half and use as desired.
