Add vanilla pudding mix, butter, oil, milk, vanilla, and dark rum.
Mix it all together and cover your bowl to hydrate your batter for at least 15 minutes.
Pre-grease a 10-cup Bundt pan and preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Fold in nuts if preferred.
Pour your batter into the pre-greased 10-cup Bundt pan.
Bake the cake for 25-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the cake is baking, make the rum syrup by melting butter in a saucepan, stirring in sugar and water, bringing it to a boil, stirring constantly for 5 minutes, then removing from heat and stirring in rum and vanilla.
As soon as the cake comes out of the oven, poke holes in the bottom and pour on half the rum syrup.
After 15 minutes, invert the cake and poke holes in the top of the cake.
Drizzle the remaining syrup on top and sides of the cake, or pour it back into the Bundt pan and return the cake to soak up the syrup.
