Super Soft Flour Tortillas

Directions

  1. 1Add 6 cups of all-purpose flour to a bowl.
  2. 2Add 2.5 teaspoons of salt to the flour.
  3. 3Mix the flour and salt with your clean hand.
  4. 4Slowly pour in 3 cups of heavy cream and mix until the dough begins to form.
  5. 5Add 3/4 cup of hot water and mix until the dough begins to form and is nice and sticky.
  6. 6Cover the dough and allow it to rest for a few minutes.
  7. 7After about five minutes, get the dough out of the bowl.
  8. 8Knead the dough for about five minutes or until it doesn't feel very sticky and is nice and smooth.
  9. 9Divide the dough into balls, depending on your desired tortilla size.
  10. 10Shape the dough balls.
  11. 11Place the dough balls on parchment paper and cover them with plastic wrap.
  12. 12Allow the divided dough to rest for at least 20 minutes.
  13. 13Heat your comal over medium heat.
  14. 14Flour your clean countertop.
  15. 15Place a ball of dough on the floured countertop.
  16. 16Add a little more flour on top of the dough ball.
  17. 17Press the dough ball down.
  18. 18Use a rolling pin to roll the dough up and down, then flip it over and repeat the process until it's thin.
  19. 19Shake off any excess flour from the rolled tortilla.
  20. 20Place the tortilla on the hot comal and cook for about 20 seconds.
  21. 21Once the tortilla begins to blister, flip it over to the other side.
  22. 22Cook for another 15 to 20 seconds on the second side.
  23. 23After 50 seconds, flip the tortilla over one last time.
  24. 24Allow it to puff or give it another five seconds.
  25. 25Once the tortilla completely puffs, remove it from the comal.
  26. 26Transfer the cooked tortilla to a kitchen towel.
