Directions

  1. 1In a large bowl, add a half a cup of unsalted butter and 3/4 cup of sugar.
  2. 2Cream the butter and sugar together until it's creamy and fluffy.
  3. 3Add in one whole egg and mix that up.
  4. 4Now add in a half a cup of sour cream and mix it up.
  5. 5Add in a teaspoon of vanilla and mix it up.
  6. 6Scrape down the sides of your bowl.
  7. 7In a separate bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, a 1/2 a teaspoon of baking powder, a 1/4 of a teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/4 of a teaspoon of salt.
  8. 8Add half of your dry ingredients to your wet ingredients and mix it up.
  9. 9Now add in the rest of the dry ingredients and mix it up.
  10. 10Cover the dough in plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  11. 11Get two baking sheets and line them with parchment paper.
  12. 12Take a scoop of dough with a cookie scoop, roll it up, and put it on your pan, spacing cookies out about 2 inches apart.
  13. 13Get a lightly greased cup and smash each one of your cookies.
  14. 14Bake them at 375° for about 12 minutes.
  15. 15While the cookies cool, make the frosting by combining a half a cup of butter, 2 tablespoons of shortening, a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of vanilla, 2 1/2 cups of powdered sugar, and 4 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream.
  16. 16Mix the frosting until it's all fluffy and creamy.
  17. 17Add in some food coloring of your choice.
  18. 18Put your frosting in a bag and pipe it on your cold cookies.
  19. 19Add some sprinkles.
