Fried Sushi Sandwich

Directions

  1. 1Cook two cups of short-grain sushi rice.
  2. 2Dump the cooked rice into a big bowl.
  3. 3Add half a cup of seasoned rice wine vinegar to the rice.
  4. 4Mix the rice and vinegar.
  5. 5Set the sushi rice aside.
  6. 6Shred six to seven pieces of imitation crab.
  7. 7Add shredded crab to a bowl.
  8. 8Add thinly sliced cucumber to the crab.
  9. 9Add a good amount of mayonnaise, sriracha, and a couple of splashes of soy sauce to the crab and cucumber mixture.
  10. 10Mix everything in the bowl.
  11. 11Chop the crab salad mixture with scissors.
  12. 12Cook the seasoned shrimp in a pan for a couple of minutes per side until done.
  13. 13Take a nori sheet and split it into four pieces.
  14. 14Spread a thin layer of rice on one piece of nori.
  15. 15Flip the nori with rice over.
  16. 16Spread a nice layer of cream cheese on the nori.
  17. 17Add shrimp, crab salad, and avocado slices on top of the cream cheese.
  18. 18Place another nori piece with a little dab of cream cheese on top.
  19. 19Prepare the batter for breading by mixing one cup of flour, one cup of cornstarch, and about one and a half cups of water.
  20. 20Dip the sushi sandwich into the batter, ensuring all angles are covered.
  21. 21Transfer the battered sushi sandwich to a bowl of panko bread crumbs and coat it completely.
  22. 22Repeat for the rest of the sushi sandwiches.
  23. 23Let the prepared sushi sandwiches sit in the fridge for about 15 minutes to firm up.
  24. 24Heat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  25. 25Fry the sushi sandwiches for around five to six minutes total until golden brown.
  26. 26Once fried, remove and let cool slightly.
  27. 27Slice each fried sushi sandwich in half.
  28. 28Drizzle with spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, sriracha, and garnish with green onion and sesame seeds.

Tips
