Homemade Ginger Ale

Directions

  1. 1Peel and chop the ginger.
  2. 2Add the chopped ginger and water to a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  3. 3Once simmering, cover and turn the heat to low. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. 4Turn off the heat and let the ginger steep in the water for 10 minutes.
  5. 5While the water is still warm, mix in the sweetener of choice until fully dissolved.
  6. 6Transfer the ginger syrup to a swing top or pour spout bottle and let cool at room temperature before storing in the fridge.
  7. 7For blueberry ginger ale, add frozen wild blueberries to a pot.
  8. 8Add water and honey to the blueberries in the pot.
  9. 9Bring to a simmer and cook to create blueberry syrup.
  10. 10Pour the blueberry syrup into a bottle.
  11. 11Cut the lemons in half.
  12. 12Juice the lemons using a citrus juicer, straining the juice into a mason jar.
  13. 13Add ginger syrup and sparkling water to the lemon juice in the jar.
  14. 14To make blueberry ginger ale, add blueberry syrup to a glass filled with ice.
  15. 15Pour the mixed ginger ale over the blueberry syrup and ice.
  16. 16Garnish with a lemon slice.

Tips
