Sweet and Spicy Beef Jerky

Directions

  1. 1Trim off any excess fat from the beef.
  2. 2Season each piece front and back with pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. 3Refrigerate for four to eight hours.
  4. 4Combine orange juice, grapefruit juice, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, Worcestershire, liquid smoke, and some brown sugar for the marinade.
  5. 5Mix until combined.
  6. 6Pour a little of the liquid into a blender with some habanero peppers and crushed red pepper.
  7. 7Blend until smooth.
  8. 8Return it to the liquid marinade, mix, and pour over the seasoned beef.
  9. 9Massage the marinade into the beef as evenly as possible, then store back in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
  10. 10Sprinkle a little more crushed red pepper on top after getting the beef on the dehydrator trays.
  11. 11At about 160 degrees Fahrenheit, it'll take anywhere between four to eight hours.
  12. 12You'll know it's ready when you can see this white stringy stuff when you tear it with the grain.
  13. 13Cut these into smaller pieces for easy snacking.
