Bloomin’ Onion Bites

Directions

  1. 1Whisk two eggs together in a bowl.
  2. 2Add 1 1/2 cups of milk to the eggs and mix.
  3. 3In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of oregano, 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne, 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, a little bit of pepper, and some salt.
  4. 4Mix the flour and spices thoroughly.
  5. 5Place two bags of thawed pearl onions in a colander to drain any excess liquid.
  6. 6Dip the onions into the egg and milk mixture.
  7. 7Transfer the egg-coated onions to the seasoned flour mixture using a slotted spoon and shake to coat.
  8. 8Heat oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  9. 9Drop the coated onions into the hot oil in batches.
  10. 10Once the onions are floating and golden, remove them from the oil and place them on a wire rack to drain.
  11. 11Salt the fried onions immediately after removing them from the oil, if desired.
  12. 12To make the sauce, combine 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1/4 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of prepared horseradish, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of oregano, 1/4 teaspoon of paprika, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and a little bit of black pepper.
