Homemade Hawaiian Sweet Rolls

Directions

  1. 1Add 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast and 3 tablespoons of warm water into a bowl.
  2. 2Mix it and let it sit for about 10 minutes until it gets frothy and foamy.
  3. 3Add 2/3 cup of pineapple juice to the bowl.
  4. 4Add 1/3 cup of packed brown sugar to the bowl.
  5. 5Add 1/4 cup of melted butter to the bowl.
  6. 6Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the bowl.
  7. 7Whisk the mixture together.
  8. 8Whisk in 2 large eggs plus one egg yolk.
  9. 9Add a teaspoon of vanilla to the mixture.
  10. 10Mix the ingredients together until combined.
  11. 11Add half of the 4 and a quarter cup of all-purpose flour to the mixture, mix it, and then add the other half.
  12. 12Once the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the bowl, it's ready to be kneaded.
  13. 13Sprinkle a little more flour onto the dough and knead it up in the bowl for about 15 minutes.
  14. 14Add a little bit of grease to the bowl and flip the dough over so it's fully covered in grease.
  15. 15Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and a tea towel, and let it sit and rise until it's doubled in size for about an hour.
  16. 16After an hour, punch down the dough.
  17. 17Divide the dough into individual pieces.
  18. 18Shape the rolls by pushing the top into the bottom, making a smooth top, and then place them in a lightly greased 9x13 inch pan.
  19. 19Cover the pan with plastic wrap and a tea towel, and let it sit, rest, and rise for another hour until doubled in size.
  20. 20Stick them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  21. 21Brush on some butter on the golden brown rolls.
