Directions

  1. 1Slice flank steak or flap steak ¼-inch thick.
  2. 2In a bowl, combine the sliced steak with ¼ cup cornstarch and mix well.
  3. 3Transfer the coated steak into a slow cooker.
  4. 4Pour in ½ cup water, ⅓ cup brown sugar, ¼ cup + 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce, 1½ tbsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp minced garlic, 2 tsp minced ginger, 1 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 tsp black pepper, and salt to taste.
  5. 5Mix everything in the slow cooker until combined.
  6. 6Turn the slow cooker to low and cook for about two hours.
  7. 7Once cooked, add sliced scallions and white sesame seeds.
  8. 8Serve over cooked rice.
