Add ground beef and onion.

Cook until beef is browned and onion is soft—about 6–7 minutes.

Drain excess grease.

Add sliced peppers and garlic.

Cook for another 3–4 minutes, until peppers are just tender.

Stir in uncooked noodles, broth, soy sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, black pepper, and cornstarch if using.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low.

Cover and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender and sauce thickens.
