Soft Homemade Dinner Rolls

Directions

  1. 1Combine warm water and yeast.
  2. 2Add butter, salt, sugar, egg, and flour; mix and knead for 10 minutes.
  3. 3Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 40 minutes.
  4. 4Punch down the dough and divide it into rolls.
  5. 5Cover the rolls and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  6. 6Bake at 350°F for 22–25 minutes.
  7. 7Form dough into 55 gram balls.
  8. 8Place the formed dough balls on parchment paper, ensuring nothing is touching, and put them into the freezer for three hours until firm.
  9. 9After freezing for three hours, take the dough out and put it into a Ziploc bag.
  10. 10To bake later, place the frozen rolls in a casserole dish or on a plate and let them thaw and rise for about four hours until soft, puffy, and doubled.

  • 0.5 cup salted butter, melted
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 7 cups all-purpose flour

Tips

  • Freeze shaped dough balls until firm (about 3 hours) on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag.
  • To bake later, place frozen rolls on a greased baking sheet and let them thaw and rise for about 4 hours until soft, puffy, and doubled.
  • The frozen dough works just as well as fresh dough.
