Serves 4

Directions

  1. 1Get some ground beef in a pan, season with salt and pepper, and break it up into little pieces.
  2. 2Add in onions, grated carrots, minced garlic, tomato paste, flour, soy sauce, ketchup, and white wine vinegar.
  3. 3Pour in water, add rosemary, thyme, and allspice.
  4. 4Let this simmer covered on a medium heat for about 10 minutes, then add in frozen peas and cook for five more minutes.
  5. 5For the mashed potatoes, boil some potatoes until they're knife tender, then mash them up.
  6. 6Add in melted butter, heavy cream, pecorino romano, dried parsley, garlic powder, and egg yolk.
  7. 7Whip that all together until it's nice and smooth and then just assemble in an oven safe baking dish, starting with a layer of the beef on the bottom and the creamy potato gets piped on top.
  8. 8Use a fork to create these crackled edges which helps to get crispy.
  9. 9Top with black pepper, more pecorino romano.
  10. 10Bake for about 20 minutes and enjoy.
