Peel and cut off the ends of the onion.

Slice the onion into rings, about this thick.

Pop out the rings and set them in a bowl.

Pour some self-rising flour into a separate bowl.

Season the flour with salt and pepper.

Mix the flour and seasonings.

Add your favorite beer into the flour mixture and mix it up.

Heat your grease up to 350 degrees F.

Dip the onion rings in the batter and coat them well.

Drop the coated onion rings into the hot grease.

Flip the onion rings once they are golden brown.

Take them off the grease.

While they are still hot, sprinkle a little bit of salt on them.
