Directions

  1. 1In a bowl, mix together 1 cup low sodium soy sauce, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons liquid smoke, onion powder, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  2. 2Thinly slice a lean cut of beef (flank steak is used in this video).
  3. 3Marinate the beef in the mixture for at least 30 minutes (overnight is ideal).
  4. 4Place the marinated beef strips on a baking sheet with a rack.
  5. 5Bake in a 175°F oven for 3-5 hours, depending on the thickness of the meat. The jerky is done when you can bend it without breaking and see little white fibers.
