Ingredients

  • 2.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 1.5 cup white sugar
  • 0 white sugar for coating

Tips

  • To prevent cookies from being dry or crumbly due to too much flour, use the spoon-and-level method: fluff flour, lightly spoon into measuring cup, then sweep excess with a knife.
  • If the dough turns out crumbly, add about 1-2 tbsp of melted butter or water.
  • Adding pumpkin pie spice can be a delicious variation.
