Directions

  1. 1Prepare your favorite chocolate cake as instructed on the box.
  2. 2In a separate pan over medium-high heat, caramelize one cup of sugar.
  3. 3This process should take anywhere from 8 to 10 minutes.
  4. 4Transfer the caramel immediately to the mold.
  5. 5Move the mold around to ensure the entire bottom of the mold is covered.
  6. 6For the flan, add six eggs to the blender.
  7. 7Add 4 ounces of cream cheese to the blender.
  8. 8Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla to the blender.
  9. 9Add one 12 oz can of evaporated milk to the blender.
  10. 10Add one 14 oz can of condensed milk to the blender.
  11. 11Blend for a good 1 to 2 minutes.
  12. 12Butter the top portion of your mold.
  13. 13Add the chocolate batter first.
  14. 14Then add the mixture from the blender.
  15. 15Cover tightly with aluminum foil.
  16. 16Bake in a water bath at 375 degrees for 1 hour to 1 hour and a half.
  17. 17Keep in mind that we added the flan mixture on top.
  18. 18When the chocoflan is done, the chocolate portion of the cake is gonna be on top, as you see here.
  19. 19Insert a toothpick to ensure it's done.
  20. 20Refrigerate for 8 hours before removing it from the mold.
