Directions

  1. 1Dice up half of a yellow onion for one bag of collard greens.
  2. 2Add unsalted butter to a pot.
  3. 3Sauté the diced onions until they are nice and brown.
  4. 4Add a spoonful of minced garlic to the pot.
  5. 5Pour unsalted chicken broth into the pot.
  6. 6Add the turkey necks to the pot.
  7. 7Cover the pot and let it simmer for an hour and a half on low heat.
  8. 8Remove the turkey necks from the pot and shred them.
  9. 9Add the shredded turkey meat back to the pot with the broth.
  10. 10Add Better Than Bouillon chicken base seasoning to the pot.
  11. 11Slowly add the collard greens to the pot, mixing them in as you go to ensure they get soaked in the flavorful broth.
  12. 12Cover the pot and let the greens simmer for 10 minutes.
  13. 13Season the collard greens with onion powder, garlic powder, ground black pepper, and crushed red pepper.
  14. 14Add your favorite hot sauce to taste.
  15. 15Add one capful of apple cider vinegar.
  16. 16Add more than half a pack of Lipton onion mix.
  17. 17Cover the pot and let the greens simmer for about 40 minutes on low heat until done.
