Directions

  1. 1In a bowl, mix 552 g of all-purpose flour and 2 tsp of salt.
  2. 2Add 8 tbsp of room temperature butter and crumble it into the flour mixture using your hands.
  3. 3Heat 2 cups of water in the microwave for 1 minute.
  4. 4Gradually add about 1 1/4 cups of hot water to the flour-butter mixture, mixing with your hands until a sticky dough forms.
  5. 5Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth and soft and no longer sticks to your hands.
  6. 6Divide the dough into 10 equal balls, each weighing approximately 90 g.
  7. 7Lightly grease each dough ball with a small amount of butter and cover it with plastic wrap.
  8. 8Let the dough balls rest for 15 minutes, covered with a kitchen towel.
  9. 9Preheat your comal or griddle to medium heat.
  10. 10Lightly flour your countertop and place a dough ball on it.
  11. 11Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough ball into a thin, circular tortilla shape.
  12. 12Place the tortilla on the hot comal and cook until it starts to blister.
  13. 13Flip the tortilla and cook for another 30 seconds.
  14. 14Transfer the cooked tortilla to a kitchen towel to keep it warm and repeat for the rest of the dough balls.
